Blog Aspect Proposal
I’ve decided I want my blog topic for the class to be party dresses. This will give my aspect of the blog a defined topic, but will still allow me to explore various subtopics like stores, social events, and even fashion history; as well as just showcasing some cute party confections.
I would like to use a simple format that combines text and photos in order to make it visually...
1) StyleList Blog →
Likes:
Features a wide variety of topics, including ‘Ebay WTF of the Day,’ ‘Hurricane Chic,’ and ‘Victoria Beckham and Her Bazillion Dollar Ring.’
The authors are humorous, and not afraid to be a bit critical.
Dislikes:
Only the introductions to blogs are viewable on the front page. In order to read an entire entry of a longer blog, the reader must select...
2) STYLECLICKER →
Likes:
Offers a comprehensive look at street fashion in Europe. Lots of fun pictures of events, people, and parties.
Hosted at their own domain name.
Dislikes:
Lots of pictures and not so much text to explain. Almost feels like more of a portraiture blog than a style blog, due to the lack of commentary and opinion.
3) The Tastemaker Diaries →
Likes:
Offers tips and trends from multiple submitters with varied tastes and backgrounds. The bloggers submit outfit inspiration, accessories, and even tech trends & interior design tips. Each contributor gets a quirky mini-bio attached to their blog.
Dislikes:
The blog’s post dates average around once a week, which doesn’t seem like much, considering the number of...
4) Shoeaholics Anonymous Shoe Blog ; →
Likes:
Contains a massive variety of shoe news; from Blahnik to Madden, to Krispy Kreme Donut’s grass-filled flip flops. (They’re really full of grass!)
Some of the styles, like heated slippers, are decidedly un-chic. (Of course, I still wouldn’t mind a pair…)
Dislikes:
Most of the blog entries are followed by semi-related auction posts; the only thing that could...
5) Second City Style →
Likes:
A very industry geared blog, featuring fashion show news including key trends, colors, and style summaries. Though the blog is very professional, they’ve still got time for celebrity fashion sightings including Kirsten Dunst and Lauren Conrad.
Dislikes:
Typepad sponsored, which seems to restrict the addition of design elements.
6) Couture Candy →
Like:
A celebrity and style blog, featuring the latest gossip and celeb-worn fashions. A great designer directory resource, and links to purchase what your favorite stars are wearing.
The blog is hosted at their namesake website, couturecandy.com
Great paparazzi-like pictures.
Dislike:
There are ads smooshed in between each blog entry.

Likes: Awash in product reviews, celebrity news, and fashion trends.
Dislikes:
Apparently this is the only human who didn’t hear that Britney Spears wasn’t actually performing on the VMAs, and she has taken time to complain about the lack of performance thereof.
She also has bad grammar. One of her subject lines reads ‘Vote A My Lunchbox’ Does she mean, ‘Vote On...
8) Faking Good Breeding →
Likes:
The site features ‘Fashion, Beauty, & Pop Culture: from a thinking woman’s perspective.’ Blogs include commentary on a NY times article on foregoing shampoo, how much (or little) women’s mags have changed in fifty years, and advice on what to wear for that certain occasion. Not just another cheesy blog full of topics including ‘sparkly stuff,’...
9) Icing: crowning your beautiful life →
Likes:
Offers an alterna-take on fashion and style. The pink haired Gala offers everything from runway reviews, outfit of the day, and tattoo commentary, while always remembering to fill in the audience on how many gin and tonics she swallowed the night before. Gala seems intelligent, keeps spelling errors to a minimum, and wears Urban Outfitters to fashion week.
Dislikes:
Why is the site...
10) Fashiontribes →
